Solution: In OS 10.2 it is important to check that the microphone is set up in both Speech Preferences and Sound Preferences. Please follow these steps: Make sure that the USB microphone is properly connected to the back of the computer. Do not connect a USB microphone through the Keyboard or any type of USB Hub. To check that the microphone is connected properly and being recognized, open "Apple System Profiler" (HD:Applications:Utilities:Apple System Profiler - By default) and select the "Devices and Volumes" panel. Look under the USB section to see if the microphone is being recognized. The microphone must be recognized properly for ViaVoice to use it. Exit out of "Apple System Profiler".
