"Error 1722: There is a problem with this Windows installer package's"
Problem:
When installing Systran Translator, the following error occurs: "Error 1722: There is a problem with this Windows installer package. A program run as part of the setup did not finish as expected. Contact your support personnel or package vendor".
Solution:
To resolve this issue, delete all Systran related MSI files in the directory C:\Windows\Installer. This is a system directory not displayed by default for security reasons. Follow the steps below to correct this issue:
Note: This solution is only to be used on Windows 2000/XP.
- Right-click on the "Start" button and click on "Explore".
- Click the "View" tab, go to "Advanced Settings" and look for "Files and Folders".
- Uncheck "Hide file extensions for known file types".
- Uncheck "Hide protected operating system files".
- Under "Hidden files" check "Show hidden files and folder".
- Click "Apply to all folders".
- Click "OK"
- In Windows Explorer, go to the directory C:\Windows\Installer.
- Right-click each filename in that folder that has an .MSI extension.
- Click "Properties" and then select the "Summary" tab.
- If the word "Systran" appears in the Subject or Author field, click "OK" and then delete that file.
- Reinstall the Systran product.
Follow the steps below if deleting the .MSI files failed to correct this issue:
Note: This solution is only to be used on Windows XP only.
- Click "Start".
- Click "Run".
- In the box labeled "Open", type "Regsvr32 wintrust.dll" and click "OK".
- A message that says the .DLL has been registered will appear, click "OK".
- Reinstall the Systran product.
