"Error 1330" may appear when installing Dragon NaturallySpeaking

"Error 1330" may appear when installing Dragon NaturallySpeaking

Problem:

The following error message may appear when installing Dragon NaturallySpeaking:

Error 1330 - A file that is required cannot be installed because the cabinet file ENUGen~1.cab has an invalid digital signature. This may indicate that the cabinet file is corrupt. Error 24592 was returned by WinVerifyTrust.

Notes:

  • The specific cabinet file being referenced may be different than the one shown above.
  • The specific error code may be 1330, 1329, 1332, 1335, or 1339.

Solution 1:

The cabinet file is not being read properly when the system is accessing the DVD. Use a flat-file installation method to install Dragon NaturallySpeaking from the local hard drive:

  1. Insert the Dragon NaturallySpeaking DVD into the DVD drive.
  2. Open a Windows Explorer window to browse to the DVD.
  3. Open the DVD drive (for example – drive D:).
  4. Select all of the files and folders on the DVD by clicking "Edit > Select All".
  5. Copy all of the selected files by clicking "Edit > Copy".
  6. Navigate to the Windows Desktop and create a new folder by right-clicking on the Desktop and selecting "New > Folder".
  7. Open the new folder then paste the files from the DVD by clicking "Edit > Paste".
Note: Depending on the speed of the DVD drive, it may take a few minutes to copy the contents of the DVD to the hard drive.
  8. Once the files have been copied to the hard drive, start the Dragon NaturallySpeaking installation by double-clicking the file named "setup.exe".

Note: If the cabinet error occurs when installing from a download, the downloaded files may be corrupt. Try downloading Dragon NaturallySpeaking again and install from the new download.

Solution 2:

If solution 1 returns the same error message, install Dragon NaturallySpeaking with a custom installation
NOTE: This solution is applicable to Dragon Professional Individual version 14 and earlier only.

  1. Insert the Dragon NaturallySpeaking DVD into the DVD drive.
  2. Once the installation starts, click the "Next" button. (If the installer does not start automatically, open a Windows Explorer window to browse to the DVD drive, then double-click the "setup.exe" file).
  3. Accept the end user license agreement and click the "Next" button.
  4. Enter the Dragon NaturallySpeaking serial number and click "Next".
  5. Select "Custom" as the setup type, then click "Next".
  6. In the Custom Setup dialog, click on the icon next to "Speech Files" and select "This feature will be installed when required".
  7. Click "Next" again, then click "Install" to start the installation.

Note: When creating the new user profile, Dragon NaturallySpeaking will only install the vocabularies and language models that were selected during the new user creation process. When creating another user profile and selecting a different vocabulary or language model, Dragon will prompt for the installation files again (whether it was installed from a DVD or from the local hard drive).

Additional Information:

  • If Solution 1 and Solution 2 do not allow a successful installation, there may be problem with Windows WinTrust on the system. The Dragon installer uses Windows WinTrust to verify that the cabinet file's digital signature is valid. In some cases there may be a problem with WinTrust detecting the file's valid digital signature. For more information on WinTrust, please contact Microsoft or the computer's manufacturer.
